Toriyamazing!

When Dragonball Z Daima started streaming, Laurens van Walbeek was looking for artists for a Dragon Ball fanzine. Daima was off to a good start (and now that it is finished I can highly recommend it), so I was happy to join. From the start the zine was going to be a tribute to Akira Toriyama: Toriyamazing!

Most of the work I’ve highlighted on my YouTube channel. So this is mostly a jumping on point.

There was an important thing that I didn’t put in a video, because it was all digital work for me. I worked together with Brynn Gunterman on Shenron for the back cover. The base was a beautiful drawing made by Brynn. I digitally inked and coloured the drawing. I also drew some parts that were cut off to give us more placement options. We had a few reviews where Brynn would indicate where I missed some things or could improve them, making it a fun collaboration. After we were done it was Laurens turn to design and make the background, placing Shenron and more elements on it. I think the back cover turned out just as nice as the front one. But in your face Super Saiyan Goku is the better choice to use for the cover.

Thanks for viewing and reading! I have a small supply of the zines that I bring with me to events to sell or contact me if you’re interested in a copy.

Toriyamazing! is actually the second Drawesome zine, you can order them online from Drawsome!
